Introduction

Hi! I'm Daniel from Japan.  This is the first essay about me, so I'll introduce myself.  I was born in Osaka of Japan and I moved to Tokyo because I entered the university.  I live in Tokyo now.  This time,  I came to Berkeley via Guam and Honolulu because my flight was unfortunately canceled.  I've never been to Honolulu before, so I was happy to visit Honolulu for 3 hours.  I took a picture of something which can make me feel Hawaii.  By the way, My hometown is the second largest in terms of the population in Japan
and famous for "Takoyaki" which is food made of wheat flour and octopuses.  If you have an opportunity to visit Osaka, please try to eat it.  I think you like it.  Then, I have studied "control engineering" in my university.  Briefly speaking, I make a robot and design how it moves and works.  Specifically, I have done my research about gantry crane in harbor which is a kind of a transfer robot.  I attach the picture of gantry crane.  I think control engineering is difficult, but it's challenging, so I can continue to study.  My hobbies are watching movies, going to a gym, playing the piano and listening to the radio.  My Japanese name is "Shimpei", but I also have an English name "Daniel"because my father is an American.  "Shimpei" is difficult to pronounce for people other than Japanese, so I'd like you to call me "Daniel." I'm looking forward to studying English in UCB!!

  1. Hey Daniel, it's Rebecca. I have been longing for traveling to Japan for a long time, ever since in my highschool, adn I find Japan a fantastic place. I love eating sushi very much:) (althogh I still cannot stand the "wasibi") You recommand us another delicious food named "Takoyaki" and I will try it if there is a chance. Another thing that is really cool about you is that your father is American, that means your are a mixed-blood boy, right? Aha, anyway, really nice to meet you here!

  3. My father works in Osaka for some years on electric engines and now he still will go to osaka every several months. Luckily, the time difference between China and Japan is just 1 hour. Sometimes he will take me there. Because i can't speak japanese, i always follow him when we walk around, as a result i didn't visit many places indeed. Now i also hope he will take me to other cities like Tokyo. Wish i can get a chance. kenny
