I interviewed with Julie, a third grader student majoring in biology. She was born in Guangzhou in China but she immigrated to the United States when she was little with her family, and now live in Berkeley. She chose the school because UC is a very prestigious university in the United States, however, it was a difficult procedure for her to get access to UC Berkeley since it's very competitive. She did make a lot of efforts to overcome challenges and strive to be admitted.
What she loves most about the school is that it's very challenging in the UC Berkeley because many outstanding students all around the world go to Berkeley for studying and many new thoughts are gathered in this huge academic stage. Thinking is the daily routine for many students here, and of course, including Julie herself.
Interestingly, she also hates the competitive environment here. She sometimes feels stressed with so many clever peers around her because she sometimes can't understand quickly in the class and have to work much more harder in order to catch up with her peers, nonetheless, what efforts she made weren't necessarily corresponded to what results she got. So she sometimes feels very frustrated.
To get relieved from the suffocating school works, she always goes to the recreational sports facility to pacify her mood and occasionally, she also work voluntarily in hospitals.
