Interview with a UC Berkeley Student (Massy)

I was roaming in the campus, looking for someone to speak to. I often feel hesitate to speak to the person I don't know, so I couldn't get courage to make an interview. After about 10 minutes walk, I found the building saying "The Bicycle Repairing Cooperative". There were many bicycles and soon I understood the building is for repairing the bicycles of Cal students. I thought maybe I could catch someone and make an interview, so I went there and asked the man in the building. Fortunately he was a student in UC Berkeley, so I decided to ask him some questions.

He was from Oakland, so it was relatively easy for him to attend UC Berkeley. He was undergraduate and was 2nd grade, so he had been only a year here. The reason why he chose UC Berkeley was, surprisingly, "Cornell was too expensive". I was so surprised because both Cornell University and UC Berkeley are great universities, then I thought he must be an intelligent person. Furthermore, he said it was not so difficult for him to enter UC Berkeley. His major was plant genetics.

When I asked him if his major had something to do with genetically modified plant, he said yes. The favorite thing of UC Berkeley for him was the bicycle repairing cooperative. The cooperative was owned by the students, and he was very fond of the activity in that cooperative. He disliked the people who walk with watching their cellphone, and there are a lot of students doing like that. This was a disappointing point of this school, he said.

He said he usually spend a couple of hours a day to do his homework. And the most favorite place to just hang out was around Sather Tower. He liked to sit on the glass, talking with friends.

That is all for my interview. He was very nice man and didn't hesitate to accept my offer. I might have confused him by my poor English, so I definitely decided to improve my speaking skill by the end of the session. Thank you.
