My question is about articles. It's difficult thing for me, because we don't have articles in Russian language.
When is it correct to use 'a', when to use 'the' and when not to use any article?
I think 'a' is for one item of a kind but not specific ones and 'the' is for something specific. If I want to buy a novel but I don't know for sure which novel I will get, I will say I want to buy a novel for there is no specific novel I want. And when we say 'close the window', we want to close the window in the room we are in but not the windows in other places so we should use 'the' instead of 'a'.
