Chapter 9 (Song and Julia)

Mack and the boys needed money to give a party of Doc. Because Doc used to give Mack and the boys jobs to earn money, Mack asked him for a job. Mack explained to Doc that he and the boys needed money for something important. Doc wanted to know more abut it, but Mack didn’t tell him for what or in this case whom it is.
Doc actually had a job for Mack to catch a few hundred frogs. So Doc finally agreed, because he really needed them They would get 5 cents for one. Mack were really happy and asked Doc if he could take his car, unfortunately Doc needed it for himself, but instead Mack got ten gallons of gas on top of the money from Doc.
In the past Doc often did dealings with Mack and the boys which mostly weren’t profitable for him but he agreed again, what shows the kindness of Doc and his personality.
After Mack left the laboratory, he went to Lee Chong and told him that they needed his old truck, which didn't run but a boy called Gay could fix it. Mack persuaded Lee Chong as he said it is not really for them it is actually for Doc to do him a favor. Mack also argued that friends should help each other whenever they can. And in the end Lee Chong borrowed Mack his truck if they repair it first, so Gay came and fix it.

(This chapter shows how clever and cunning Mack actually is. It also shows how he can persuade people and manipulate them to get the most out of something (for him)).
